My First affiliate Check!
Today, I received my first affiliate check for $53.15 from Commission Junction. It’s a small amount… I know but it’s a start. The check was from one of my information sites that has a small online store, selling targeted products. The plan is to use this money to fund my first full affiliate site. I’m very excited because I’ve been reading and learning about developing an affiliate site and already have the design of my new affiliate site done. My wife just looked at the design and approved it. With the design done I will be buying the logo and sending the article topics to my writer. The site should be up and running some time next week.
I’m all about having leverage against my competition. My leverage on this site is having my other related information sites linking to my affiliate site driving targeted traffic.
How am I going to spend it?
The following is my plan on how I’ll be investing the money in to my new Affiliate site.
- $3.19, .info domain
- $14.00, Three articles
- $3.00, Logo
- $7.00, Directory Submission
- $25.00, 5 one way permanent links
Seeing that I’ve never developed an affiliate site before, I have no idea how long it will take to get my initial investment back. My hope is to get it back in no longer than 2 months.

Good going Bob,
I suggest spend the extra $4 and get the .com, try and build your site targeted around the one product or “niche” if possible use wordpress as a base as its hell seo friendly with a couple of seo optimized plugins. you can also ping when new comments and content are added.
Directory subs are fine for the money but really they will be untargeted and will not hold high pr, your better of commenting and finding forums close to your subject matter. The sercrets in merging yoru affilaite products into your site to look almost like your own products, then having the payment sections done on the merchant sites. Have you tried iframes?
CJ is not bad, but just make sure your getting the best affiliate % from the merchant. Shop around if need be. Also check the sites you are promoting as they need to be user friendly and not too many pages to click through until you can buy.
Hope this helps and congrats on yoru first check.
