Getting My First Traffic Ticket

I haven’t announced it yet, but I’ve been playing football for an Arizona Football adult league, Cochise Cavaliers. We have practice every Tuesday and Thursday about 30 minutes away from my house at a park in Huachuca City, which only has a population of 1,890 people. Most people know that cities with small population have bored cops that have nothing better to do than give traffic tickets. Normally, I’m very careful going the speed limit in that town cause everyone tells me to be careful there but after practice I was tired and not paying attention.

Last night leaving football practice, I was pulled over by a cop that clocked me going a steady 34mph in a 20mph zone and gave me my first driving ticket for $196. I’m not saying I don’t deserve the ticket because I was speeding. However I don’t understand how I was going a steady 34mph seeing that I just pulled out of the parking lot making it about 200 yards before he pulled me over. It seems like he was just waiting for us to get off practice to pull one of us over because that road hardly gets any traffic at that time of night. He was just parked in a hidden corner of the road with his lights off. He even said one of my teammates behind me was also speeding going 32mph but he can’t pull over more then one person at a time.

I guess there is no point to this story. I just wanted to vent a little. All in all, it happened. I’ll go to traffic school, Lesson learned!

I’m positive I’ll never drive out of that parking lot exceeding 20mph ever again.
